Edison senior gets ahead with College Credit Plus program

FrankieEdison High School senior Frankie Russell wanted to challenge herself during high school and be better prepared for college, so she enrolled in the College Credit Plus (CCP) at EHS.

Russell met the challenge and earned 52 college credits, totaling $26,000 in college tuition cost savings, which will follow her when she enrolls in the Trinity School of Nursing in the fall.

“I wanted a challenge and to have an advantage when I enter college,” Frankie said. “CCP gave me that opportunity and taught me about the work load and intensity I can expect at Trinity.”

Russell has been involved in many different activities and student groups during her tenure at EHS. She performed with the choir and in EHS musicals, participated in vocal solo and ensemble competitions, competed on the Wildcat volleyball and softball teams and was the Treasurer of Beta Club.

“Edison High School provided me with opportunities to grow and learn beyond the classroom,” she said. “I’m thankful for the teachers who have helped me achieve success in the CCP program and throughout my time as an Edison Wildcat.”

Six EHS teachers expanded their educational expertise to become adjunct professors, allowing Edison students the opportunity to take college classes without leaving the high school campus. Frankie’s advice for future Wildcats and their families is simple: don’t miss the opportunity to get ahead and save money for college.

“The CCP program at Edison is very beneficial,” Russell said. “I would highly recommend it for any future Wildcats who plan to attend college after high school.”
